The Best Activity Trackers (update)

PC Magazine has a great article comparing fitness trackers.

Most activity trackers today still count how many steps you take, but also tally the miles you travel, show you day-by-day how much physical activity you get, calculate the calories you burn, and often collect data about your sleep patterns, too. Some can even sync with heart monitors (one device actually has a heart rate monitor built into it), smart bathroom scales, and other devices to give you more accurate readings of what's going on with your body.

Are you backing up your PC? Follow the 3-2-1 Rule for back up.

I lost a backup drive . . . ONCE . . . from then on I have followed these rules:

3 - Backup copies of anything you want to keep.

2 - Different storage media.

1 - Offsite storage site.

To explain further:

Keep 3 copies of any important file.
This means keeping your original, plus at least two copies of that original. This builds in redundancy, so that if one of your backups fails, or if a file becomes corrupted, you have it somewhere else.

Use 2 different types of media to back-up the files.
The idea here is that you don’t want to put all of your eggs in one type of storage basket. So if you back up to a hard drive and it fails – you have not lost all your files.
( In my experience, backing up locally to anything other than a hard drive or network drive is cumbersome, which means that you won’t do it as often as you should. )

Store 1 copy off site.
If your house burns down, or someone breaks into it and steals all your gear, you’d be out of luck with only local backups. As a result, you should keep one more backup offsite. Offsite storage could be “cloud storage” – or a physical hard drive in another location.
